Usain Bolt has no problem smelling like Puma

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Sports brand Puma has announced Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt as its first-ever celebrity face to promote one of its fragrances.
Record-setting Bolt will appear in the print ads for the brand's new Animagical scent, which will be available for both men and women.
Apart from the fact that Puma is a sportswear label, the announcement comes as part of a trend that sees brands associate themselves with professional athletes: Cristiano Ronaldo stars in the latest Armani underwear campaign, and Japanese soccer star Hidetoshi Nakata and Spanish tennis player Fernando Verdasco appeared in Calvin Klein's new X underwear ads, for example.
Men's fashion and beauty in general, as the German GQ pointed out recently, are mainly influenced by sports this year.
Both African-inspired Animagical fragrances (they will come in zebra-print packaging) will be of a fresh and fruity nature and will hit stores in June.
