Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

It was rumoured that supermodel Kristen McMenamy was coming to London to appear in the shows of Philip Treacy, Hussein Chalayan and Alexander McQueen. Then an equally furious rumour abounded that she had decided to bypass London and go straight to Milan - leaving the designers without a star model.

On Wednesday morning, however, McMenamy allegedly made an unscheduled appearance at the Amanda Wakeley show. At the same time, it was confirmed that she was at the London studio of the designer Sonja Nuttall to be fitted for a coat to be worn during the Philip Treacy show. Confusion reigned, but not for long. Be, a German model - also in London for the shows - bears a very, very striking resemblance to McMenamy; it was her in the Wakeley show. But with her similar angular face, big eyes, and almost exactly the same hairstyle, it is understandable that there was some confusion. As shown above, both at the Alexander McQueen show - the two models could have been separated at birth.
