From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Tom Ford has announced this morning that he will no longer show his women's ready-to-wear presentations as part of the London Fashion Week schedule.

Instead he is taking his show to Los Angeles where he will present his autumn/winter 2015 offering on February 20th.

His debut collection was presented in his New York flagship in September 2010 and modelled by icons including Beyonce, Julianne Moore and Lauren Hutton.

Ford has since shown as part of London Fashion week, at first as intimate presentations to a small groups of editors and later in full scale catwalk productions.

The autumn/winter 2015 show that will take place in February will be the first collection that Ford will show in Los Angeles.

"“I have loved LA since I first moved there from New York in the early 1980’s. Richard and I have had a home there and divided our time between LA and Europe for the past 20 years and have always felt a deep-rooted connection to the city" Ford commented this morning.

"So many visuals in our world are filtered through Los Angeles including music, television and film and in this way it influences global fashion in a profound way. Like fashion, film is also a creative endeavor that is extremely important to me. I am excited to bring these two aspects of my life together by presenting the collection in Los Angeles.”

The relocation will inevitably cause difficulties for show attendees who will have to decide whether to attend the show in Los Angeles or miss the first day of London Fashion Week which is scheduled to take place from February 20th - 24th 2015.

Ford's work in the film industry is well documented through his involvement in the 2009 film 'A Single Man' which he directed, produced and co-wrote. The film received critical acclaim and was nominated for a string of awards including Academy Award nominations for Colin Firth.
