From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. With less than a month to go until 2014 Victoria’s Secret show, the models cast to showcase the lingerie extravaganza have been announced.

The first confirmation came with the announcement that this year’s fantasy bra is a double whammy, with two sets valued at $2m ( approx. £1.2m) each and described as encrusted with diamonds, rubies, sapphires and 18k gold; with Adriana Lima and Alessandra Ambrosio modelling them.

The inclusion of Ambrosio and Lima is no surprise, as they are two of the most senior Angels on Victoria’s Secret’s books.

They are in the lucky position of holding a contract with the lingerie brand and don’t need to cast, likewise Behati Prinsloo, Lily Aldridge, Doutzen Kroes, Karlie Kloss, Lindsay Ellingson and Candice Swanepoel.

The rest of the models hoping to take part in the most anticipated fashion show of the year have to go through a casting process, every year, no matter how many times they have previously walked in the show.

With the castings and fittings taking place in New York this week, models have been sharing the heavenly news on social media and this is what we know so far….

Some of the new faces to debut at the show include Spanish model Blanca Padilla - who came into the spotlight after fronting the Dolce & Gabbana show alongside Kendall Jenner, - Dutch Romee Strijd and Brazilian Daniela Braga. Other faces returning to the show are London favourite and one of the world’s highest paid models Jourdan Dunn, Danish model Josephine Skriver, Swedish girl Elsa Hosk, Australian model Shanina Shaik, Kelly Gale, Devon Windsor, Maria Borges, Lais Ribeiro, Eniko Mihalik, Bregje Heinen, Cindy Bruna and Barbara Fialho.

There are still rumours that Kendall Jenner might make her debut with the lingerie brand, but nothing has been confirmed yet and there hasn’t been any news about Cara Delevingne returning to the show either, but watch this space for the updates as the show approaches.

Victoria’s Secret 2014 show will take place in London on 2 December.
