Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Amidst controversy over Apple recently pulling off risqué apps from iTunes, including 5,000 with "overtly sexual content," the famous annual edition of Sports Illustrated magazine takes the current No. 1 Sports app spot. It's packed with images of the bikini-clad models, including the February issue's cover girl, Brooklyn Decker, wife of tennis pro Andy Roddick.

The other sports connection in SI's spread involves four Olympic athletes, the US Gold medalist for downhill skiing, Lindsey Vonn, plus aerialist Lacy Schnoor, and snowboarders Hannah Teter and Clair Bidez, shot at wintry Whistler, BC in swimwear.

Since 1964, this yearly best-selling issue of the magazine highlights "rookies" debuting in the issue including singer John Legend's girlfriend, Christine Tiegen, a Thai-Norwegian model discovered in a surf shop, and Zoe Duchesne of Montreal, Canada, seen in Chanel ads and on the cover of Elle.

Cover girls in the past have included Beyoncé, Bar Refaeli, Tyra Banks, Elle McPherson, and Heidi Klum.

Oh, and the swimsuits? They include new bikinis by Skeemo, Under Armour, Yellowman, Perry Ellis, Kuschcush, La Perla, Pompei Beach, Poko Pano, and more.

The Sports Illustrated Swimsuit app is the No. 13 free app and No. 35 top seller ($1.99 unlocks all the photos and videos).
