This election is still a dead heat, according to most polls. In a fight with such wafer-thin margins, we need reporters on the ground talking to the people Trump and Harris are courting. Your support allows us to keep sending journalists to the story.

The Independent is trusted by 27 million Americans from across the entire political spectrum every month. Unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock you out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. But quality journalism must still be paid for.

US designer Marc Jacobs has launched a virtual watch for the iPhone that customizes your phone in the style of his spring collection. Plus: the latest in DIY, Coast's first app, and your personal Vogue stylist.

Vogue Stylist

The updated app lets you create a virtual wardrobe on your iPhone, taking pictures of your clothes and mixing them with those selected by the magazine's editors.

Marc by Marc Jacobs Spring/Summer 2010 Miss Marc Clock

A drawn doll inspired by the designer's most recent collection lets you read the time in style.

Quilting for Beginners

The crafting craze continues: following knitting and sewing, this quilting app ($0.99) gives you selected video tutorials from YouTube with easy step-by-step instructions.

Coast

The UK-based clothing brand's iPhone app comes with a store finder, daily stock updates and customizable alerts, styled outfit inspiration and a newsletter with special offers and promotions.

Nike iD

The update of the sneaker brand's customizing app features Photo iD, a tool that lets you match your shoes' colors to any photo taken with your iPhone, meaning perfect matching to your outfit, your room or whatever you fancy.

The Shoe Salon

New York department store Bergdorf Goodman's application has launched a full frontal attack on your wallet, giving you one shoe per day that can be shopped directly from your phone. Available to US customers only.

OPI

Nails are the ultimate fashion accessory this spring, so it's no wonder that specialist OPI has released its iPhone app. Working closely together with fans of the brand using social networking media, OPI lets you 'try out' all nail polish colors on the phone with this first version. Updates are already in the making.

Chanel

The luxe label has launched a new application that can also be accessed online: the re-interpretation of a slot machine gives you three new gift ideas, sorted by accessory category, each time you spin the wheel.

Miss Sixty

The denim label's first iPhone app gives you special discounts on its collections and finds the Miss Sixty store that's closest to you. Plus: outfit inspiration, behind-the-scenes videos and an online magazine.

Sports Illustrated Swimsuit 2010

Gentlemen rejoice: find photos and videos of all models participating in the magazine's most-anticipated issue of the year in this app, including cover star Brooklyn Decker, her forerunner Bar Refaeli, and many more.

POP Magazine

According to the magazine, the application was conceived together with artist Richard Prince as a complement to the much-anticipated spring/summer issue, but will also give readers access to new videos, photos, and thepop.com thereafter. Highlights of the app include a tool that lets you place the issue's star, Abbey Lee Kershaw, into any picture taken with your phone, which you can then share on POP's website.

Create friendship bracelets

The title sort of gives it away: this new app brings you easy-to-follow instructions for friendship bracelets in all sorts of patterns. Costs $0.99.

Fashion Network Original

Covering the shows in all major fashion capitals, FNO has lots of interesting info but - contrary to what its name suggests - doesn't add anything new to the pool of fashion week apps, pioneered by the likes of style.com.

Shop View - London

Oxford Street in the heart of London is Europe's busiest shopping mile, and finding your way around all the stores and special offers might seem daunting to many. Enter Shop View: the $1.99 app gives you a 3D tour of the local shops plus links to their websites and Twitter feeds of special sales.

What's Your Fashion Style

For $0.99, this new application lets fashion fans take a quiz based on their average outfit choices in order to determine their personal style.

FashionFLW

Fashion Followed sends you collages of new fashion items for daily outfit inspiration.

GQ

Just in time for men's fashion season, GQ magazine has something for the gents: with an app especially launched for its February issue, you'll get this month's feature on the most stylish men on the planet as well as a Victoria's Secret fashion shoot, a suit special, a guide how to survive Valentine's Day and much more for the price of $2.99.

Stitches Lite

For all DIY fashion fans out there: get new patterns and instructions for crocheting for free with this new app.

Love It or Lose It

Can't decide what to wear? Love It or Lose it ($1.99) lets you send up to three pictures of an outfit - from the store, your room, or wherever you are - to your friends or the app's online community, giving you instant feedback on how you look.

Trendstop TrendTracker

This app not only selects the season's trends for you but also gives you fashion events and venues around the globe.

The Fashion Handbook

Designed with the serious fashion fan in mind, the Fashion Handbook gives you explanations of key terms as well as fashion's role in the context of art, architecture, and entertainment. It explores the 'fast fashion' phenomenon, addresses do's and don'ts, and selects the rights styles for each body type. The serious approach, however, has a serious price too, compared to other apps: the guide sells for $9.99.

Inditex - Zara

Before the Spanish chain's online store goes live, Zara has released an iPhone app that is designed to facilitate your shopping through collection lookbooks, detailed pictures of the clothes and immediate access to its stock. Plus: the app alerts you of new arrivals.

Target

The US retailer's application is even more extensive than Zara's, featuring a store finder telling you exactly what is currently in stock at your nearest store, special offers, and even a gift finder as part of its offering. In addition, the app lets you comment and review items for other shoppers' reference.

myFendi

The ultimate application for the Fendi fan lets you classify your favorite looks by the label and locate the closest store. As a special gimmick, this app also mixes and matches Fendi items with the clothes in your wardrobe.
