Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Natalie Portman revives her role for Christian Dior in a new fragrance advert for Miss Dior.

The film titled 'It's Miss actually' is directed by Anton Corbijn who directed A Most Wanted Man, and was shot on the French Riviera.

In the film Portman is pictured getting ready for her wedding before having a last minute change of heart and escaping in a Dior branded helicopter.

"To me, this story gives her a chance to become a true character: multi-levelled, involved and heroic…The story of a singularly beautiful and inspiring woman taking the boldest of steps towards a future that is wholly hers” comments Corbijn.

In the film Portman is pictured unsurprisingly wearing a stunning embroidered Dior dress which was handmade in the house's atelier which she later sheds in favour of a little black dress.

The soundtrack for the film is the apt 'Piece of my heart' provided by Janis Joplin.

The new ad coincides with the launch of a new hair mist in the Miss Dior fragrance range.
