A mother has tweeted her child's spelling homework - expressing her disappointment at its multiple spelling mistakes.

The homework was addressed to parents of Year 6 pupils to help prepare them for the SATS (Standard Assessment Test) exams.

Of the six words included in "Week 1", two were spelt wrong - sincerely was misspelt "sincerley" and immediately was misspelt "immediateley".

Amanda tweeted: "My son has spellings from school that they want him to learn.

"I'm currently holding my head and sighing."

Her picture, which was retweeted 1,775 times, has been accused on social media of being fake.

She has responded to her critics, declaring the mistakes are real and stated in a subsequent tweet: "I appreciate and value teachers but errors like that are just not on.

"Spellings being sent home that are incorrect is a big issue in my opinion."

Year 6 pupils take Key Stage 2 tests which concentrate on three core subjects: English, Maths and Science.
