From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The oversized billboard which is situated in Soho, New York, is one of the largest in city - thought to be the first fashion ad to be a victim of the flying graffiti.
The fashion model's debut appearance for Calvin Klein was the subject of the attack by graffiti artist Katsu, who hacked a Phantom drone and used it to spray red paint across the Keeping Up With The Kardashian's star's face.
The vandal who documented the attack with a video uploaded to youtube, commented to Wired:
"It turned out surprisingly well. It's exciting to see its first potential use as a device for vandalism."
It's thought to be the first time a drone has been used to create graffiti.
The news will no doubt be met with some dismay by Jenner who held a party this week to celebrate landing the iconic campaign with the brand.
Only last week Jenner shared an image of the billboard on social media.
