However a recent social media posts suggests the duo have teamed up.
Bieber shared a series of images on his Instagram account appearing to show the popstar posing topless for a photoshoot and sitting alongside Lagerfeld.
The images were accompanied with the caption "Big things coming with my friend @KarlLagerfeld"
What exactly the shoot is for is unknown. However Lagerfeld, who in addition to being a fashion designer is also a dab hand behind the camera, is known for his celebrity photoshoot collaborations.
In recent months has teamed up with Miley Cyrus who posed naked in a fashion shoot for V Magazine and Conchita Wurst for CR Fashion Book.
It's not the first hint of a foray into fashion for Bieber, 20, who was spotted last week at the CR Fashion Book party alongside a host of fashion week attendees including models Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid.
