Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Following her successful Uniqlo debut in October, German designer Jil Sander has launched her second '+J' collection for the Japanese retailer on January 7 in the UK, with the US to follow on January 14, and France on January 20.

Sander's new range is constructed around three themes ('Simplicity,' 'Natural Nobility,' and 'Clarity and Brightness') with Uniqlo describing the items as "functionally elegant," providing a focus on innovative materials and precise cuts, the designer's signature aesthetic. Additional care was taken to make the collection 'environmentally responsible.'

Colors will be muted, ranging from whites and ivories to pastels, so it is likely that Sander's new clothes will make for yet some more elegant basics rather than wardrobe stand-outs.

As with the first collection, the second +J range will comprise coats and jackets, pants and skirts, shirts, sweaters, cardigans and t-shirts, with prices from €19.90 to €149.90.
