From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

It will be the British designer's first appearance in London since 2008 when he took his show to Paris and more recently New York.
The return will coincide with 10th anniversary of the brand.
"London is where everything is for me. My creative family is here, our story is here. So I'm thrilled to acknowledge such an important milestone on home ground," Pugh commented.
"At heart this is a creative decision - it feels timely and true to the spirit of the work."
Pugh showed his first collection in London as part of Fashion East in 2005. The relocation to London is intended as a permanent move according to WWD.
Pugh made his name with flamboyant collections characterised by an experimentation with volume utilising unusual shapes and materials in his designs.
His designs have been worn by the likes of Lady Gaga, Beyonce and Kylie Minogue.
Earlier this month Pugh was commissioned to design the Christmas tree installation at the Victoria and Albert Museum.
