From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. From Gwyneth Paltrow to Justin Timberlake, the stars were out in force last night to attend the annual amfAR charity gala event in Los Angeles.
This year's event honoured fashion designer Tom Ford who was the star of the night, with both the man himself in attendance and an array of his designs worn by a long list A-list attendees.
It was undoubtedly Rihanna and Miley Cyrus who stole the show however. Rihanna opted for a nipple pastie, white cutaway gown accessorised with stockings from the spring/summer 2015 Tom Ford collection.
Cyrus went equally risque in another design from this collection; a Fifty Shades of Grey inspired bondage black gown that just about covered her modesty.
The black tie event where tables start in the $15,000 price range, took place at MILK studios in Los Angeles and included a dinner followed by a live auction.
Rihanna was reportedly one of the big bidders at the event, purchasing a pair of $35,000 Harry Winston diamond earrings and splashing a further $100,000 on a signed photograph of Elizabeth Taylor at the Eden Roc by Willy Rizzo.
The Inspiration Gala is an event hosted by the amfAR charity which raises money for Aids research programme. The swanky gala celebrates fashion and style and this year the event was honoring the designer Tom Ford.
