Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Fashion shows may be all about the clothes but quite often it's the celebrities in attendance that steal the headlines.

There's been no shortage of star spotting at the first leg of the bi-annual shows, held this week in New York.

The first major event on the New York Fashion Week calendar has also provided the best front row - for one season only Riccardo Tisci crossed the pond to show his spring/summer offering for Givenchy in the Big Apple.

In attendance included long-time Givenchy supporters Kim Kardashian with husband Kanye West, actresses Julia Roberts, Uma Thurman, Margot Robbie, Amanda Seyfried, Christina Ricci, Hailee Steinfeld and Liv Tyler, as well as Ciara and Nicki Minaj.

Kylie Jenner has been making her way round the shows appearing at Alexander Wang (which also saw Lady Gaga in attendance), Opening Ceremony, Vera Wang and Prabal Gurung.

More unusual fashion week guests included Princess Beatrice, F1's Lewis Hamiliton and Helen Mirren who sat front row at Badgley Mischka.

And if it is anything like his first show, another major front row is expected this afternoon when Kanye West stages his second show for Adidas.
