Fashion Update: Hollywood siblings hang out in Hennes
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.VERUSCHKA, the Teutonic Venus of Sixties modelling, who now keeps a low profile under her real name of Vera Lehndorff, made a surprise appearance at the menswear shows. Since quitting modelling - her high-point was as the model in Antonioni's Blow Up - Vera has spent plenty of time fading into walls, as an artist who used herself as a canvas. But latterly, aged 50-plus, she's been modelling again, principally for the photographer Steven Meisel.
Still, nobody expected to see her on the catwalk at Dirk Bikkembergs's show, in the bowels of an underground car-park in Paris, somewhere near the Gare de L'Est. It took a while for the audience to catch on that the goddess of fashion modelling was among them - after all, even Veruschka looks a little different from how she did in 1966. But she strode purposefully along in Bikkembergs's dark easy pieces, proving that even age cannot wither a truly great model.
