From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

There's never a quiet day in the fashion industry. Hot on the heels of the big news about John Galliano yesterday, another move has been confirmed.

Guillaume Henry who was the artistic director of Carven, has left the label and will take up a new role as creative director of Nina Ricci following Peter Copping's departure.

Henry, is widely credited with turning round the fortune of French house Carven, which is now a go-to label for those looking for more contemporary luxury designs.

Ralph Toledano, president of Puig Fashion Division, the company which owns Nina Ricci commented on the appointment:

"We are welcoming Guillaume Henry at Nina Ricci with tremendous delight and great ambitions for the brand. In addition to being an outstanding talent, Guillaume has the characteristics of a major designer: artistic vision, intuition, intelligence, charisma, curiosity, and a remarkable ability to attract and gather the very best."

Henry's debut collection for Nina Ricci will be the autumn/winter 2015 presentation which will take place in February next year.

Copping is rumored to be in talks to take on a new position at Oscar de la Renta alongside the 82 year-old designer.
