From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Ellen DeGeneres is the latest celebrity to launch her own fashion and lifestyle website, as she releases EDbyEllen, reaching 300,000 users in 24 hours with most of the home décor stock selling out.
The 57-year-old TV host welcomes costumers to her site with a YouTube video on the homepage, in which she says: "Welcome to Ed everybody. This is something I’ve been working on for years and years… I’m very very proud and we’ve worked very very hard… Thank you!"
You might remember the blonde, short-haired American comedian for hosting the Oscars in 2014, where she took that infamous Hollywood-packed selfie, but more than that, she’s the 50th most powerful women in the world, too, and so the launch success comes as no surprise.
The website unveils her own clothing line featuring shirts, tees, bomber jackets and blazers, golf shorts and trousers, totes and bracelets with DeGeneres’ philosophy (Love, Faith, Happiness) on them, Monopoly-inspired animal pins and, well, plain baseball caps.
So, if you want to channel her boyish fashion style (which has been so on-trend in recent years), this is the latest (and most accurate) shopping destination for you, as every item seems to have been taken out of DeGeners’ wardrobe. On the Home section, she channels the joys of homemaking, featuring everything from linen kale coasters, to a silver ice bucket set.
EDbyEllen follows the likes of Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop, Black Lively’s Preserve and Reese Witherspoon’s Draper James. It seems that the internet will always capacity for celebrity-endorsed fashion and lifestyle advice (and in general, anything celebrity-related).
