Elle Macpherson to host 'Britain's Next Top Model'
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Australian supermodel Elle Macpherson is taking over from British colleague Lisa Snowdon to host the UK spin-off of Tyra Banks' casting show.
Also known as The Body and with several fashion credentials including her own modeling agency and lingerie label under her belt, Macpherson seems a more appropriate fit for the role than her predecessor, who was predominantly known for being George Clooney's ex-girlfriend.
"I am really enthusiastic and motivated to work with the team of Britain's Next Top Model," Macpherson said in a statement. "We are looking forward to finding the face that can represent the next generation."
Macpherson is no rookie to the small screen: she previously starred in TV shows including Ashton Kutcher's The Beautiful Life (which was quickly taken off the air and has now reverted to a YouTube channel at youtube.com/user/TBL) and the more successful Friends.
BNTM's next series, which will again follow young hopefuls competing for a modeling contract, is expected to air on British channel Living this year.
Meanwhile, creator of the show's original format America's Next Top Model, Tyra Banks, has announced a plus-size modeling competition, called Fiercely Real Teen Model, with a video on YouTube. Banks, who says she is committed to "redefining beauty," has produced a petite model version of her casting show in the past, but also attracted negative publicity for her "ethnic" photo shoots.
