Donatella Versace to star in Givenchy autumn/winter campaign

An unexpected move sees the two designers team up.

Donatella Versace is to star in the new season ad campaign for Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci.

The news was announced today on Tisci's Instagram account with an image of the two together with the caption:

"So proud and honored to introduce my new ultimate icon: Donatella Versace... FW15 Givenchy Family Campaign MORE TO COME SOON!"

Tisci included hashtags for Mert and Marcus, hinting that photography duo captured the campaign. with former Vogue editor Carine Roitfeld as stylist.

Donatella Versace also commented on the announcement, reposting the image to Twitter and captioning it:

"'For my talented friend Riccardo. Together we break fashion boundaries today!- DV' FW 15 @givenchy Family Campaign"

Both houses have a history of casting powerful women to front their campaigns; for Spring Tisci chose Julia Roberts to front his campaign whilst at Versace it was Madonna.
