From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. In a week which has seen many Angels declare their presence in the upcoming Victoria's Secret show in London, there are a few names noticeably absent.
First amongst those is Cara Delevingne, who has walked in the Victoria's Secret show for two consecutive years.
Her previous appearances for the lingerie label on the glitzy runway coupled with the event taking place for the first time in London (Delevingne's home city) meant fans presumed the model would be taking part. But she is yet to declare her plans.
The explanation for this could lie in the upcoming Chanel Metiers d'Art show in Austria, which is taking place on the very same night as the Victoria's Secret show.
Delevingne is a regular on the runway and in campaign images for Chanel so it seems is likely to have opted to walk for Karl Lagerfeld over the American lingerie giant.
Malaika Firth has also previously walked for both brands and as yet has not declared a presence at either events.
In addition this may also explain why up and coming models Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid who were widely expected to make their debut at the Victoria's Secret show this year have not been confirmed.
Both models appeared on the catwalk at the 'feminist protest' spring/summer 2015 Chanel show earlier this year.
It's not just models that will have to make the tricky decision, fashion editors whose presence would normally be expected at both events are having to pick a side - jet to Salzburg for Lagerfeld's Austrian extravaganza, or to London for sequins, body glitter and Angel wings.
The 2014 Victoria's Secret show and Chanel Metiers d'Art both take place on 2 December.
