From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Vogue Espana has chosen fashion blogger Chiara Ferragni as the cover star of its April issue.
Ferragni is the first blogger to land a cover of the prestigious fashion magazine, a slot which is usually reserved for high profile models and celebrities.
The shoot was photographed by Nico Bustos who has also worked with the likes of Salma Hayek and Naomi Campbell.
The magazine is undoubtedly hoping to capitalize on the popularity of Ferragni (also known under her blog name - The Blonde Salad) who boasts a staggering 3.4 million followers on Instagram.
The 27-year-old Italian began her blog in 2009 and she quickly gathered a following and reputation as one of the most photographed street-style stars.
She has published an e-book, modelled for Guess, designed a footwear collection for Steve Madden and Superga, and collaborated with numerous high fashion brands to transform her blog into a highly lucrative money-making business.
Last year WWD reported that the blogger was set to generate revenues of around $8 million (£5.6m) last year - with the bulk of that coming from collaborative projects such as her own footwear line, but a hefty $2 million (approx. £1.3m) coming from the web alone.
Earlier this year Lucky magazine also featured Ferragni on its February cover when she posed alongside Nicole Warne, and Zanita Whittington.
Social media reach is an increasingly important consideration to fashion brands and editorial publications; 2014 saw the rise of the Insta-girls (as they were crowned by American Vogue) which includes models such as Cara Delevingne and Karlie Kloss who hold huge social media followings.
And it's no surprise that bloggers are set to be the new fashion stars of 2015; to put things in perspective, Kloss' Instagram followers number 2.1 million - that's 1.3 million short of Ferragni's.
