Having first begun as a trade event called "Press Week" in 1943, New York Fashion Week (NYFW) has since evolved into one of the most eagerly anticipated sartorial events of the year.
NYFW marks the beginning of Fashion Month , which travels across to London, Milan and Paris during February until early March .
While the occasion allows a range of well-known and emerging designers to annually present their autumn/winter designs to the world, it also provides scores of celebrities and influencers with the opportunity to get spotted attending the most sought-after, star-studded events.
This year has already seen Orange Is The New Black actors Selenis Leyva and Alysia Reiner appear on the front row of 11 Honoré 's show, supporting their co-star Laverne Cox as she made her way down the runway.
Other standout moments of the event so far include Tom Ford 's politically charged show and Ralph Lauren 's intimate breakfast offering which saw supermodel Bella Hadid swan past guests wearing a a gold lame Marilyn Monroe-esque party dress.
At the Elie Tahari show on Thursday, mother and daughter, Christine Brinkley and Sailor Binkley-Cook, walked the runway together, high-fiving as they passed each other on the catwalk.

Here's everything you need to know about NYFW 2019:
When is it taking place? NYFW takes place on a biannual basis, in February and in September.
This year, it officially begins on Monday 4 February and ends on Wednesday 13 February.
The week-plus-long event will see a plethora of designers display their autumn/winter collections for the coming season.
Which designers are attending? Highlights of this year's NYFW includes shows from highly regarded fashion houses such as Tom Ford , Oscar de la Renta , Marc Jacobs and Ralph Lauren .
A number of exciting up-and-coming designers will also be taking to the runway with their designs, including the likes of Christian Cowan, who was behind the cover design of Cardi B 's debut album Invasion of Privacy Diane von Furstenberg as an associate designer.
Several big names in the fashion industry have decided to take a step back from NYFW this year, most notably Calvin Klein .
While Calvin Klein is usually known for putting on one of the most innovative shows of the season, the brand announced it would be absent from the event following the recent departure of chief creative officer Raf Simons.
Earlier this week, Pierre Davis became the first transgender designer to debut at NYFW.

Is it possible to buy tickets? Unfortunately for the masses, the coveted NYFW shows are exclusively invite-only events.
However, there are a number of events taking place during the week that the public are able to attend.
From Friday 8 Friday until Thursday 14 February, people in New York will be able to visit "The Bumble Hive", an area of relaxation and rejuvenation created by dating app Bumble in collaboration with Instagram influencers 'New Yorkster ' and Mandana Ansari, otherwise known as 'Girl and the Bay '.
