Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Bra buying can be a painful experience – both physically and emotionally, and for fuller-figured women the limited options can make the ordeal even more frustrating. That’s why a new brand of lingerie that promises support without resembling scaffolding, in sizes from 36E to 44E, is something to get excited about.

“I felt there was a lack of excitement and sex appeal in the lingerie department for large-busted women,” says Ashley Graham. And she should know, as one of the most successful plus-size models of the moment, she’s done her fair share of lingerie ads, including one for Lane Bryant which was deemed unsuitable for transmission before the watershed.

“The main difficulty has been ensuring the perfect fit; I’ve suffered in the past with ill-fitting bras and visible panty lines,” she explains. She worked on these problems with Canadian plus-size retailer Addition Elle. Sold exclusively in the UK by plus-size retailer Navabi, the range is sexy and sophisticated, thanks to a palette of pearl white and black, and a classic old Hollywood glamour across eight bra and brief sets, a baby-doll and a chemise.

“We loved the style aesthetic,” says Miriam Lahage, strategic advisor to Navabi.

“It’s sophisticated while still being feminine, with delightful details such as mixing pearls, satin and lace. Ashley clearly had our customer in mind as she designed the line to really complete her wardrobe and find inner confidence; there’s a simple black lace bra that offers the perfect mix of support and sensuality.”

“Sexy is a state of mind,” adds Graham. “I drew on my experiences to create pieces that work on the body and are as comfortable and supportive to wear as they are beautiful.”
