Online fashion brand Missguided has today launched its collaboration with men’s “lifestyle” magazine Playboy.

While some people have branded the collection “embarrassing,” “tacky” and “so year 8,” others have expressed their love of the line, with some items selling out.

What’s more, pairing up with a magazine known for its photos of nude women seems to stand out in an era when most brands are championing empowering women and diversity.

The line consists of hoodies, T-shirts, dresses, bags, caps, underwear and bodysuits, all emblazoned with the Playboy bunny logo and magazine cover images, with prices ranging from £8 to £50.

Announcing the collaboration, Missguided and Playboy call it: “The essential collection for a new generation of rebellious females who dress by their own rules.”

However in the eyes of some people, the description of the line doesn’t marry up with their opinion of Playboy.

Others pointed out that the collection throws back to the early noughties, when Playboy-branded clothing was fashionable in some social circles of young women.

Despite the criticism, some fans of the brand have expressed how much they love the collaboration.

In fact, there are many accounts on Twitter of shoppers’ transactions failing to process due to high demand.

While the collaboration may be misguided in the eyes of some, clearly others love the Playboy bunny aesthetic.

Missguided has been contacted for comment.
