How to prep your wardrobe for spring
Thankfully this doesn't have to be a massive job
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Every year, around about now, I'm always taken aback when I see T-shirts and shorts arriving into the stores. It means that spring has well and truly sprung and it's time to start thinking about giving my day to day winter wardrobe a tiny bit of an overhaul, sprucing it up for the warmer months ahead.
Thankfully this doesn't have to be a massive job, its only real requirement is to tweak and add to what I already own.
This year, at the top of the to-buy list will be a botanical print cuban collared shirt. Because nothing says spring like a tiny floral print, it's by far the easiest way of injecting a shot of life into a tired wardrobe; just remember that the simplest way to anchor any busy top to your bottom half is with a first-rate pair of jeans.
This season, make sure those jeans are pale in colour with a frayed hem and wore with an iconic penny loafer.
Another great way of refreshing your look is to add a few nautical stripe tops to your shopping list. These stripes are perennial favourites with designers and high street alike, and you don't have to be a rocket scientist to understand why; they're endlessly versatile whether worn solo or, as seen at Burberry, layered under that all important cuban collared shirt.
For any new outerwear, it's the very ordinary wind cheater that wins hands down.
Not only is it perfect for any inconvenient heavy showers it also gives you the chance to add some bold colour to your overall look.
Team with a canvas rucksack and you'll be more than suitably attired for this seasons love affair with the great outdoors.
