From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

On Saturday 6 July, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor was christened at the Private Chapel at Windsor Castle.
The duchess wore a white Dior gown for the private affair, which was styled with a white hat, Dior nude suede pumps and stud earrings.
It’s been widely reported that the earrings Meghan chose to wear for the occasion are the same ones that the royal wore just over a year ago at her royal wedding to the Duke of Sussex.
According to US Weekly, the earrings are Galanterie de Cartier diamond and white gold studs, the price of which are available upon request.
Cartier has declined to comment on the validity of the reports.
Meghan also reportedly wore the same earrings in April 2018, while attending a reception for the Invictus Games in London.
Following Archie’s christening, the royal baby and his parents were photographed by Chris Allerton, who photographed the royal couple at their wedding reception in May 2018.
Allerton expressed his joy on Instagram over being asked to capture yet another significant royal occasion.
“I am honoured to have taken the official photographs at the Christening of Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, and to once again, be part of such a special and joyous occasion for The Duke and Duchess of Sussex,” Allerton said in an Instagram caption.
Last week, the Duchess of Sussex made a surprise appearance on the fourth day of the Wimbledon Championships.
The duchess wore a necklace with a letter “A” charm hanging at the centre, in an apparent nod to her son, Archie.
