On Tuesday, the reality star the 38-year-old posted a photograph on Instagram and Twitter for her latest KKW Beauty collection, which is inspired by the 1990s.
In the image, Kardashian West poses with her hands on her head and wears a black bondage-style top. She also appears to be wearing make-up from the collection, with her dark kohl-lined eyes and contoured cheekbones.
“I’m so excited to announce my new 1990s inspired collection of all matte formulas – The Matte Smoke & Matte Cocoa Collections!!!” the mother-of-three wrote on Twitter alongside the image.
“I get a lot of my make-up inspiration from the 1990s and love how nostalgic this entire collection is,” she added.
But fans aren’t convinced by the photo and are complaining on social media that the Keeping up with the Kardashians star looks nothing like herself.
“Okay but who is that in the photo?” one person asked.
Several others tweeted simply: “Who is this?”, garnering hundreds of likes for asking such a question.
Many people argued that the image had been heavily photoshopped, with some suggesting that she looked like a CGI character.
On Instagram, Kardashian’s 145m followers were no less bewildered.
“Kim is so stunning but this doesn’t look like her,” commented one fan.
Another added: “Am I the only one who didn’t recognise sis for like a good 10 seconds? [sic]”. The comment received more than 1,552 likes.
However, others focused on the new make-up collection, which Kardashian said will include two eyeshadow palettes, six lipsticks, six lip liners and five eyeliners. The collection launches online on 16 August at midday.
“So excited for this,” wrote one person.
“You’re unbelievable,” added another. “Love this collection”.
