Despite being one of the most in-demand supermodels in the world, Kendall Jenner has been pretty absent from this season's New York Fashion Week thus far.
In fact, the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star made her first and only appearance this season on Saturday during Longchamp’s very first-ever runway show.
But, to many people’s surprise, the 22-year-old opted out of walking the runway entirely and chose to secure a place on the front row instead.
“It’s always a bit different,” she told W Magazine.
“It’s always fun to be on the other side of things and get to be on the other side of the craziness. I actually enjoy it. I love being able to see the collections when they are brand new.”
Of course, there are still three more weeks of fashion month to go, giving the model plenty of time to make an appearance on the runway, but it seems as though this brief hiatus has been no coincidence.
In fact, Jenner revealed that the reason she has been MIA so far this season is because she’s susceptible to having “freak outs.”
“I try to keep myself cool. I go in and out of having freak-outs, so I just have to chill out and be by myself,” she explained.
“Yesterday, I took a bath because I was really stressing out. I lit some candles, and, yeah.”
This isn’t the first time that the model has spoken about her mental health struggles. In a short clip from Keeping Up With The Kardiashians, Jenner recently revealed that she didn't take part in New York Fashion Week last season due to panic attacks.
The tense footage showed Jenner on the phone to her mother, Kris, while having a panic attack on the way to her father’s house.
“I think she has so much going on that she gets herself really worked up,” her mother revealed.
“Kendall gets the most anxious during fashion week so when she’s travelling a lot. And Milan’s coming up and trying to juggle it all is overwhelming.”
Elaborating on her absence from the runway, the supermodel has also admitted to being "on the verge of a mental breakdown" and having “debilitating anxiety.”
“Last season I didn’t do any shows. Just 'cause I was working in LA and I was like ‘Oof, I can’t right now- I’m gonna go crazy,’" she explained to LOVE magazine.
"I was on the verge of a mental breakdown."
In an interview with fellow model Cara Delevingne for Harper’s Bazaar, she added: "I have such debilitating anxiety because of everything going on that I literally wake up in the middle of the night with full-on panic attacks.
“Where do I even start? Everything is so horrible, it’s hard to name one thing. I just think that the world needs so much love."
