Jennifer Lopez has been targeted by animal activists at Toronto Film Festival for her penchant for fur.

The actor, who has previously been photographed in fur coats, was teased and ridiculed by protesters as she posed on the red carpet for the premiere of her new film, Hustlers, on Saturday evening.

Lopez was not wearing fur at the time – she wore a ruffled marigold gown – but there is a scene in the trailer for Hustlers in which she appears to be wearing a fur coat. However, it’s not clear if the material is real or faux.

Photographs from the premiere show protestors holding placards bearing slogans such as “J Lo hates animals” and “J Lo stop wearing real fur”.

In a video from the event obtained by TMZ, the activists can be heard screaming: “Shame on you, J Lo, for wearing fur! Shame on you for wearing fur Jennifer Lopez! Stop wearing fur Jennifer Lopez! Stop wearing fur JLo! Stop wearing fox fur!”

Another person is heard shouting that the 50-year-old has killed “thousands of animals” while one claimed she has “blood on her hands”.

Lopez did not appear to acknowledge or respond to the protesters at the event.

The Independent has contacted a spokesperson for Lopez for comment.
