Fed up of crying over the John Lewis ad? Harvey Nichols has come to the rescue with something a whole lot funnier.

It’s that time of year where festive ads are released in their droves and the latest comes from luxury department store Harvey Nichols.

‘Avoid Gift Face’ is the tagline given to the campaign which shows the forced smiles we are often forced to put on at Christmas when unwrapping a present that isn’t exactly our thing. Too polite to reveal our true feelings we instead resort to putting on a pretend smile – gift face.

The film shows a Christopher Kane clad young woman receiving a series of unwanted gifts from family members on Christmas day.

Harvey Nichols found that 72% of adults admitted to having pulled a gift face and 63% will wear or use their gift just to protect a loved one’s feelings. Only 27% would actually confess their true feelings.

This ad follows the release of Mulberry’s nativity-themed Christmas ad which was released last week.
