Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Hair trends originating in the UK, and especially London of course, are regarded as the most reliable indicator for future trends around the globe, with events such as the annual Hair Fair raising the bar for companies worldwide.

The British Hair magazine's awards are one of the top events on the industry's calendar (together with the British Hairdressing Awards in November), and last weekend, the ceremony lived up to expectations, with leading hairdressers including Nicky Clarke, Trevor Sorbie, Errol Douglas, Sacha Mascolo-Tarbuck, Richard Ward and Andrew Collinge attending, supported by celebrities such as Jenny Frost, VV Brown or the Pussycat Dolls.

The Chapel in Islington was named Best London Salon, and Toni & Guy beat out eternal rival Vidal Sassoon in the Nationwide Salon Group of the Year. Best Celebrity Hair Look of 2009 went to Jennifer Aniston, styled by Chris Macmillan. Aniston once caused a haircut frenzy when she debuted her new layered do on the sitcom Friends, so presumably, hairdressers should start practicing her look.

Lookfantastic.com, which won the prize for Best Online Haircare Retailer, also ships internationally.
