Fendi has dropped The Baguette Dance, a new film project that incorporates the iconic Baguette Bag with the movements of five talented gymnasts.

Unveiled on 17 December, the Baguette Dance is part of Fendi’s ongoing #BaguetteForeverFriends campaign, which has previously included a cameo from Baguette devotee Sarah Jessica Parker.

The latest instalment shows five gymnasts from The Paris Centre showing off the mini bag in five different hues (black, red, yellow, pink and light blue).

Set to a synth-heavy beat, the dancers can be seen pirouetting, tumbling and posing with with the best-selling bag in hand.

Wearing unique black fishnet Fendi competition leotards, the dancers are all fresh-faced except for a sweep of bright yellow eyeshadow.

“Paying homage to its curves, its edges, accent, unique details and striking pops of colour in their movement, the baguette dance is more than just a tribute to the Fendi Baguette in name – it is the Fendi baguette in its purest form,” reads a statement from the luxury fashion house.

“Propelled by the music and wearing unique Fendi gymnastic competition uniform, we can only watch as they immortalise the special spirit of the #FendiBaguette with their fierce power, fearless attitude and exquisite artistry.”

The bestselling baguette bag was first launched in 1997 and rumoured to sell more than 100,000 times in its first year alone.

It made an appearance in a number of Sex and the City episodes, which only served to increase its appeal.

And, after a period of dormancy, the baguette has been seen more recently on the arms of Gigi Hadid, Ashley Graham and Priyanka Chopra.

Inspired by Fendi creative director Venturini Fendi’s grandmother’s “collection of beautiful beaded bags from the 1920s and 30s”, the rectangular bag has become a cult classic.

To date, the Italian fashion brand has sold more than one million in over 1,000 iterations, from casual denim to opulent bead-encrusted versions.
