A bad habit of rubbing my eyes when tired means that I rarely wear eye make-up for work. Well, I didn't until I realised that, without it, I looked absolutely shattered, even when relatively rested.

So I reintroduced eyeliner into my daily routine, which also meant having to reintroduce a make-up remover, as the cleanser I usually use just wouldn't cut it without giving my peepers a good scrub.

Now, depending on my mood (and haste to get in my bed) I either use a specific eye make-up remover or a multi-purpose cleanser that can shift the lot with ease.

Micellar cleansing water

£4.99, Garnier, available nationwide

Infused with molecules that act like magnets attracting make-up, grime and oil, micellar water is all the rage for a reason.

They're real! Waterproof eye make-up remover

£14.50, Benefit, boots.com

I've struggled to get the hang of the brand's push-up liner, but this creamy eye make-up remover handily removes every trace of my mistakes.

Radiance brightening eye make-up remover pads

£3.99, Simple, available nationwide

I don't like face wipes as I never feel deeply cleansed, but these mini versions are actually quite great, especially after a night out.

Fabulous make-up melt gel-to-oil cleanser

£24, Bliss, blissworld.co.uk

A straight oil cleanser can leave a filmy feeling on the eyeballs – not pleasant – but this format is far more friendly.

Instant waterproof eye make-up remover

£15, bareMinerals, boots.com

Shake up this clear liquid and use with cotton wool to remove all traces of a dramatic eye after a big night out.
