The purchase of a new winter coat is easily one of the biggest shopping decisions of the year.

With UK winter starting in September and lasting till some time in April it's a decision best made with careful consideration.

Cold temperatures and dark nights can make the season a very long and miserable one. What better way then to brighten up the outlook than with a colourful winter coat.

Yes camel may be classic, black is timeless and navy is very elegant, but the trend this winter is to add a pop of colour with a brightly hued overcoats.

Primary colours like bright blue, red or yellow make the biggest statement. For something a little softer but equally as colourful try pastel shades of mint, apricot and lemon.
