From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The five-day festival in Chichester might be known as the glam-packed event that follows Royal Ascot and King’s George Weekend, attended by an array of racegoers in oversized headgear, but this year it got a further fashion treatment thanks to the racers themselves.
A gang of fashion designers including Vivienne Westood and Roksanda Illincic, as well as master of prints Liberty London, and up-and-coming talent such as Tabitha Webb and Kate Halfpenny, have designed trendy uniforms for the female racers for the The Magnoloia Cup charity race. The silk jackets have colourful stripes, floral prints, feathers and abstract patterns – all with matching helmets.
Design team from department store Liberty of London stuck to what they know best and used a floral pattern for their design. Westwood followed the summer feel with a print of blossoming pink and yellow roses, while Serbian-born Illincic applied her iconic colour-block.
The Sussex Downs also saw a parade of glam outfits and hats from racegoers such as Princess Eugenie who presented winner Camilla Henderson with the trophy.
