Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. What are you wearing right now?
We have 20 centimetres of snow in London, and I am definitely dressed warm: YSL trousers, Roksanda Ilincic blouse, a big vintage jumper, Chanel belt and jewellery.
Who is your style icon?
It is Barbie's 50th birthday this year, and I have been making her a special dress for the occasion – her archive has some of the most glamorous and unexpected outfits in it, and she is definitely my style icon this year.
What can't you live without?
My bright red lipstick.
Describe the best outfit you have ever worn
It is hard to pick one. However, the last outfit that made me feel really special is the long Swarovski cape from my spring/summer 2009 show (pictured far right). I recently wore it to a dinner party!
What's in your wardrobe?
Dresses from my own label, lots of vintage pieces, and plenty of big jewellery.
Make-up bag essentials?
MAC lipstick – at least three colours; Shu Uemura eyelash curler and mascara; YSL Touche Eclat; organic antibacterial handwash; and lots of other products that I never really use.
Most stylish era?
Actually, I am quite happy with the present one – maybe I would fast-forward out of the recession though.
How often do you look in the mirror?
Well, every time I have to put on or reapply my lipstick...
Any fashion confessions you'd like to share with us?
Oh yes, plenty of confessions to make – but I think I'll try to keep them as secrets!
