Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

To those of us who own an underwear drawer full of greying, baggy cotton, renowned lingerie label Agent Provocateur might seem a far-off foreign paradise of silken wonder.

There aren’t many of us who can claim to be quite as glamorous as its famed postergirls, in their matching separates and whittling waspies.

But the launch of a new ‘classics’ range this month brings that paradigm a little closer perhaps, offering some of Agent Provocateur’s most enduring styles as a capsule of favourites that runs the gamut between kinky and comfy, accommodating all tastes and propensities to make an effort.

The point of these is not to be trussed up like a blow-up doll, nor to set an impossible standard for mere mortals who don’t necessarily have time to clip on a suspender belt before they run for the bus – the label suggests that these pieces should make up the ‘foundations’ of an aspirational underwear drawer.

French lace, hot pink and sophisticated shapewear combine with traditional and retro Fifties-inspired silhouettes, while silk pyjamas and a dressing gown will turn even lying on the sofa into a decadent art form.

What’s more, to accompany the new Classics range, Agent Provocateur has also commissioned a series of three short comic films, the first of which can be watched here (above), with the tagline ‘sexy never takes the day off’.

So, if like the rest of us, you're reading this with a waistband of fraying elastic digging into your gut, why not take some inspiration from AP’s big idea and set about reinvigorating some of your smalls.
