From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Last night the 2018 Fashion Awards, formerly known as the British Fashion Awards, saw its most star-studded guest list to date flock to the iconic Royal Albert Hall in London to celebrate the industry’s creative talent.

From supermodels to designers, A-list stars and fashion influencers, the red carpet was brimming with an array of glamorous looks.

Making one of the biggest sartorial spectacles of the night, supermodel Kendall Jenner arrived wearing a sheer metallic gold gown by Julien MacDonald while 17-year-old Kaia Gerber, who picked up the award for Model of the Year, turned heads in showstopping Alexander McQueen number.

Others kept the crisp December chill in mind while dressing for the event, using feathers and capes to cover up in the cold.

Winnie Harlow, who was a finalist for Model of the Year, wore a sparkling embellished gown with feathery cuffs and hem while Erin O’Connor opted for a black velvet gown complete with a printed metallic cape.

Another standout look of the night came courtesy of Paloma Faith who sported an unmissable pink tulle creation by Dilara Findikoglu.

Amidst the sea of brightly coloured sartorial statements though, black ensembles reigned supreme with everyone from Victoria Beckham to supermodel Alek Wek and the Duchess of Sussex, who made a surprise appearance at the event, keepings things classic.
