Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.David Bowie fans now have a whole new way to channel their adoration for the legendary British musician.
Vans has released a special unisex collection that pays homage to the Starman’s trademark flamboyant style.
The capsule collection consists of six pairs of trainers, three tops and two hats, all of which take inspiration from Bowie’s best-selling albums and corresponding alter-egos.
There’s the skate shoe with blue and green cylindrical shapes that match those on the Space Oddity album cover, the red patent hi-tops that are a celebration of Ziggy Stardust, and the retro-looking red and cream sneakers inspired by Bowie’s famous Aladdin Sane album cover.
Some of the shoe styles are also available in sizes suitable for toddlers, so parents can bring their kids up as die-hard Bowie fans from the get-go.
As for the clothes, expect two graphic T-shirts emblazoned with memorable Bowie album covers and a long-sleeved jumper featuring a black and white photograph of the beloved musician with “BOWIE” written above in bold scarlet text.
Then, there are are the two baseball hats, perfect for those who want to spend a day out in the springtime sunshine while commemorating one of Britain’s artistic and sartorial icons.
Currently, the collection is only available online on Vans’ US website, where prices range from $24 (£18) – for the hats – to $85 (£64) for the red patent hi-tops.
The Vans x David Bowie collection is available now for a limited time online and in select stores
