From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Well, for almost everyone - those, in fact, who can afford La Perla lingerie, since the brand has just teamed up with the father of the cone bra, Jean Paul Gaultier.

Gaultier said in a press release: "In my latest prêt-à-porter collection I revisited the conical bras and corsets worn as outerwear. This collaboration was a natural and logical step, especially since La Perla is the pearl of lingerie, with the best savoir-faire."

The collection will hit Gaultier's as well as La Perla's stores in November, but the designer will already debut two limited-edition lingerie pieces at his haute couture show next week.

JPG muse Madonna first brought his cone bra to public attention during her Blonde Ambition tour in 1990, and fans are hoping for a remake. In any case, experts say the pointy look is making a comeback: following Gaultier's show last fall - and in tune with the general trend of more feminine shapes - sales of UK retailer John Lewis's conical bra Fantasie Belle were up ten percent.
