Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

39th Fifi Awards
May 25
New York, USA
The Oscars of the fragrance world have been given to the most creative noses in the industry for the past 39 years and the ceremony is attended by more than 1,000 members of the international fragrance community. The awards are presented by celebrities from the worlds of fashion, theater, film and TV. Armani's Acqua di Gioia, Chanel's Chance Eau Tendre, Gucci Guilty, Pure DKNY, and Voyage d'Hermès are all in the running for the grand prize.
Black Eyed Peas frontwoman Fergie is responsible for Avon's most successful fragrance launch ever and will get recognized for it during the ceremony. Honoring "a celebrity whose very first fragrance has enjoyed instant success with the consumer and brought recognition to the fragrance category," the US Fragrance Foundation has decided to give this year's New Fragrance Celebrity of the Year Award to the singer, who launched Outspoken - a tuberose fragrance - last year.
The overall Fragrance Celebrity of the Year award, however, will go to actress Halle Berry who ventured into perfume two years ago with her woody oriental signature scent Halle by Halle Berry. The more floral Pure Orchid and the fresh and light Reveal followed in 2010.
