However, the online retailer’s latest unique fashion item has left its customers rather confused.
Adding a new piece to their already extensive range, ASOS is now selling a boob tube made from denim, and for extra effect, have sewn it onto a plain white t-shirt.
Described as a “cut-off denim insert”, essentially the Re-Worked Denim Bustier Over T-shirt by vintage-inspired brand Milk It is little more than the waistband of a pair of jeans stuck on to a tee.
And, despite pitching the item as great “if you’re partial to a textural switch up”, customers aren’t impressed. But at £35, we’re not surprised.
As a result, images of the top have gone viral online after shoppers took to Twitter to criticise the strange garment.
While one person simply asked, “What is this?” another hit out at the retailer for its outlandish designs saying, “Things are getting out of hand now.”
Another person wrote, “I literally saw this earlier today and thought how ridiculous it was! Whatever next!!”
Others commented on how even the model, who was styled with a matching pair of blue jeans, seemed baffled by the top.
“I have to say. That model looks *delighted* to be wearing that shirt,” someone said.
Another added, “'The look on her face is perfect, ‘They made me wear pants as a shirt.’”
Of course, this isn’t the first time ASOS has come under fire for its controversial items.
Just last month, the brand was slammed by shoppers for selling a latex choker they deemed as “offensive” and “insensitive.”
The belt-like accessory, named the “Hanger Latex Flame Choker”, was modelled by a young girl with her eyes closed and her head tilted to the side, a pose which is causing some customers to slam the retailer for “suicidal” and “fetish” imagery.
The product has since been removed from the online retailer’s site in light of the complaints.
