From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Following on from Alexa Chung's second consecutive runway show at London Fashion Week (LFW), the designer has announced the launch of her first eyewear collection.

The sunglasses range, created in collaboration with Sunglass Hut, draws inspiration from the past with its vintage-style frames and tinted shades.

Pieces from the collection were first debuted at Chung's LFW show on 16 February, with several of the models on the catwalk wearing the designer's sunglasses.

Described as "sophisticated yet feminine, retro yet contemporary", the limited-edition capsule collection consists of two different styles.

The first, an oversized pair of "old school" sunglasses priced at £149, comes in three different varieties: black, white and tortoise shell.

The second pair of sunglasses, which also cost £149, have been designed with a slimmer frame and come in black or tortoise shell.

Chung shared a teaser of the collection on Instagram on Friday 15 February, before later unveiling the range.

Chung explained that she often finds herself opting for "vintage frames" when deciding on her daily ensembles, which is why she chose to include the throwback-style sunglasses in her eyewear range.

"I revisited iconic moments in film and music to make a variety of styles that feel both timeless and timely," the designer said.

"Scott Walker, Fellini, Elvis and Anna Karina to name but a few shady icons of mine, all helped shape the direction of this eyewear capsule."

Each pair of shades come with a cross-body leather pouch when purchased.

Several of Chung's Instagram followers have been expressing their excitement over the release of the collection.

"Wow, these are truly perfect," one person wrote.

"Well I need these," another added.
