Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

From Lancôme and Chanel to Nars and MAC: here are some of the beauty highlights due out this fall.

Lancôme French Coquettes

The brand's fall collection is inspired by Paris of the 1920s, and beauty blogs are already buzzing with excitement about the release. The reason? Photographer Mario Testino's beautiful campaign starring Daria Werbowy and Elettra Wiedemann (watch a video here), and an accomplished range, featuring nudes, charcoals, and plums. A shimmer powder called La Rose Deco and gel eye shadow, Ombre Magnétique (for which there's already a waiting list) are among the stand-out products of the line, as are the nail polishes, Kissed by Paris. Some items are already available for order on Lancôme's US site, but they won't ship until August 15.

Estée Lauder Blue Dahlia

While Lancôme is focusing on texture and artistic inspiration for fall, Estée Lauder's concept is all about color: its Blue Dahlia collection will be composed of marine green hues, and Surreal Violet will feature purples and blues. Both ranges come with eye shadows, lip glosses, and nail polishes.

Yves Saint Laurent Rock & Baroque

YSL's fall collection is full of bright colors, including oranges and purples, as well as more demure shades such as roses and golds. This fall's smoky eye will be a blend of midnight blue and golden hues, and this will be one of the lines that will have the perfect colors to achieve it.

Chanel is again releasing a sure-to-be 'it'-nail polish called Paradoxal, a dark, shimmering plum, while Dior is countering with lighter, pink tones.

NARS

The label's fall range was inspired by its new ad girl, Daphne Guinness, who even got her own eponymous eye shadow (a purple). More highlights will include poetically named shadows Mangrove, Coconut Grove, or Rajasthan, as well as the Rouge Basque lipstick and Strawberry Fields gloss.

MAC x Rodarte

The design duo's collaboration with the usually very popular makeup brand caused controversy in the forefield due to disadvantageously named products of the Mexico-inspired line for fall. To name nail polishes Juarez, like the impoverished border town notorious for the rape and murder of young women, was "tasteless," the blog, The Frisky pointed out. Now, MAC has responded by apologizing and announcing that a part of the collection's proceeds will benefit those crimes' victims.
