Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Whilst many of us are still foraging around for left over Quality Streets, a very select group of people are gearing up for the biggest red carpet events of the year; awards season.
No sausage rolls on the diet plans of these A-listers as the first major event of the year is on January 10th - the Golden Globes, quickly followed by the Screen Actors Guild awards, the BAFTAs and then the Academy Awards in February.
But before we get ahead of ourselves, here's a look back at some of the best gowns from 2015:
The year began well with seasoned red carpet dresser Diane Kruger in a silver gown by Brit designer Emilia Wickstead at the Golden Globes- simple and elegant.
Emma Stone mixed things up at the same event choosing a jumpsuit by Lanvin rather than a more traditional red carpet gown.
Beyonce dared to bare at the Met Gala in a revealing embellished gown from Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci.
Onto Cannes Film Festival where it was Sienna Miller's year, as a judge at the prestigious film event she had ample opportunity for red carpet appearances, one of her best was in a soft blue tulle skirted gown by Gucci.
