Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Copenhagen: A Danish plastic surgeon this wek claimed a new record for extending a patient's penis. According to Jorn Ege Siana, a "combination of surgery and post-surgical stretching" had lengthened the 42-year-old patient's flaccid organ from 4.5cm to 19cm. The 14.5cm increase beat the previous 13cm record.

Israel: A couple seeking to wed in Israel were told that no ceremony could be performed until the groom, who is a recent immigrant from the former Soviet Union, proved that he was circumcised. Rabbis at the religious council in the town of Ashkelon had not been satisfied with the groom's religious credentials. "It's horrible" the bride told the Yediot Ahronot newspaper Thursday. "Do we have to take off our pants to show we are Jewish?"

Jerusalem: Dr Alexander Oshanyesky, an Israeli specialist on blood vessels, has found that a drug used at his clinic to treat impotence has failed on two occasions: the 1991 Gulf War and the 1993 Tel Aviv Stock Market crash. "The stress caused the adrenaline level to shhot up, moving more blood to the brain and the heart and less to the penis," he explained.
