From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. A flight attendant with Emirates is winning legions of fans by documenting her glamorous travels on social media.

Despite having to deal with irate passengers, jet lag and unsociable working hours, working as a flight attendant is something that many people dream of.

And, one air stewardess is here to give you serious wanderlust.

Dubai-based Brigita Jagelaviciute, from Lithuania, has cultivated a following of nearly 60,000 fans on Instagram by sharing inspirational snaps of her glamorous lifestyle.

And at just 23-years-old she is well on her way to becoming a social media sensation.

Jagelaviciute might not earn a six-figure salary like other globetrotters, but her job as a flight attendant means she gets to visit some of the most beautiful locations around the world.

In fact, in the last 12 months alone Jagelaviciute has been on an impressive 80 trips, the Daily Mail reports.

But despite exploring mountains in New Zealand, sunbathing on Bondi beach and handgliding over Rio de Janerio, she says there’s still plenty more to see.

“So far I’ve ticked off 74 countries - and that’s only 30 per cent of the world, so I still have a long way to go,” she said.

“My latest favourite has been New York. There is just something magical about the Big Apple - the energy and the hustle and bustle of the city. It just always leaves me inspired.”

The avid explorer says that she knew she wanted to be a flight attendant the moment she first saw Emirates cabin crew walking through an airport several years ago and that being able to wake up and do something different everyday is part of the reason she loves her job so much.

“I don’t like waking up at the same time and doing the same thing five days a week only to wait for the weekend,” she explained.

“Meeting new people when you’re young is also lots of fun and this job is a great opportunity to make some long-lasting friendships.”

Of course, as with most jobs working as a flight attendant does have its downsides and Jagelaviciute admits that, no matter how much she travels, the jet lag can sometimes get the best of her.

“The worst part of being a flight attendant is most definitely jet lag. It’s hard to even explain what you feel if you have never experienced it,” she said.

“You have to be capable to quickly adjust to different temperatures, time zones and places and it’s not easy. I think even after having worked many years in aviation people still struggle sometimes to fight it.”

By sharing her travels online through Instagram, YouTube and her blog, Jagelaviciute says she hopes to encourage anyone who wants to travel or start a career as a flight attendant.

“It is an adventurous career so be ready for anything and everything,” she adds.

“But most importantly, try to learn as much as you can because travelling this world is the best education you can ever have.”
