From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. If you wanted to get a glimpse of Paris from above, those courageous enough can now do so via a 377-foot-high zip line from the Eiffel Tower.
Water brand Perrier is behind the attraction, Smash Perrier, which sees people zip-lining off the second floor of the French landmark at 55mph before reaching the Ecole Militaire.
The zip line opened to coincide with the French Open, which will close on 9 June, as well as the Eiffel Tower’s 130th anniversary this year.
The speed is reportedly meant to mimic the speed in which a tennis ball travels during a serve - which means the 60-second experience is over quite quickly.
In videos, participants, who are strapped in and wearing helmets, can be seen speeding past the Paris skyline.
Unfortunately, not just anyone can zoom down the 2,600-foot line, as willing daredevils must be chosen through random drawings on Perrier’s Instagram to participate.
To enter the raffle, which ends on 2 June, those interested must post a story using the Smash Perrier stickers, tag their location, and mention @perrierfr for a chance to win.
The Eiffel Tower zip line previously opened in 2017 to celebrate the tennis tournament.
