Dirty Dogs Campaing: Dirty Dogs Capital of Britain Competition: Win a holiday for four in New York: Your last chance to nominate your town, city or area as the Dirty Dogs Capital of Britain. Competition closes 31 March
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.IS your town or area badly afflicted by dog-fouling? If so, we offer you the opportunity to nominate it for the title of Dirty Dogs Capital of Britain - and to win a City Break for four in New York. The town or area most deserving of the title, in the opinion of the judges, will be presented with the Dirty Dogs Capital of Britain award by the Independent on Sunday.
HOW TO ENTER
Write and tell us, in not more than 100 words, why your town, village or area deserves the title Dirty Dogs Capital of Britain, and attach as many supporting signatures as possible. The judges - Chris Smith MP, opposition spokesman for the Environment and Tibetan terrier owner, poet Andrew Motion, and IoS editor Ian Jack - will take into consideration the wit of the entry, as well as the facts described. Number of signatures will be taken into account (though will not necessarily be decisive).
Send your entry, by next Thursday, 31 March 1994, to Dirty Dogs Capital of Britain Competition, the Independent on Sunday, 40 City Road, London EC1Y 2DB. (Normal competition rules apply.)
WHAT YOU WIN
The prize for the winning entry is a City Break for four people in New York. It includes flights, shared coach from JFK/EWR airports and three nights in the four-star Warwick Hotel (subject to availability). The holiday must be taken before 27 August 1994. Flights are on United Airlines, the world's largest carrier, and the hotel is part of the United Vacations package.
