Dirty Dogs Campaign: This foul mess: What can be done? Wanted: a solution that can work
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Today the Independent on Sunday is starting a Dirty Dogs Campaign. We want to hear your views on this national problem and what you think might be done about it. The present laws are not working: could there be better ones? We want to begin by compiling a nationwide picture of the problem: because every area has its own by-laws, national statistics are hard to come by. Write to us and tell us about your local area: what is the condition of your local parks and pavements? If possible, we would like to know what - if anything - your local authority is doing about it.
In addition to this, we'd like to hear your views on possible, practical solutions. It is said that this problem can't be dealt with effectively because the law is unenforceable. What do you think? Please write to Dirty Dogs Campaign, the Independent on Sunday, 40, City Road, London EC1Y 2DB
